My first Glossy Box

I had an excellent day today ...work was fun, the sun was shining and when I got home my first ever Glossy Box was waiting for me!

I originally signed up for the Carmine Beauty Box,  when they amalgamated with Glossy Box I was umming and aaaring about continuing with the service but curiosity got the better of me and I kept it.
Half way through the month I received an email from the Glossy Box team saying that there was a delay in sending the boxes out ...not a good start.

While opening the box I was expecting the worse and was surprised at how good the contents were
The theme for this box is Natural Beauty and ethical 'goodies' even the box is 100 % biodegradable, and may I say while I'm at it I quite like the idea of having themed boxes I think it adds something to the Glossy Beauty Boxes rather than having a random selection of samples ...themes are always fun!

So what did I receive:

Caudalie Vinosource SOS Thirst-Quenching Serum - which is apparently an ultra concentrated serum which should ensure that your skin never lacks moisture. As a dry skinned lady I'm definitely going to try this out.

Inika Cosmetics certified organic eye-liner - in 08 Peacock Blue. I'm a massive fan of blue eye-liners, I haven't used it on my eyes yet but it seemed extremely soft and creamy when I swatched it on the back of my hand!

Monu professional skincare moisture rich collagen cream - Which is meant to relieve dryness and smooth fine lines. I have a little redness in my face so I am always looking for products to help me minimise it.

Figs and Rouge Lip Balm - This is the only product that I've tried so far. The scent is cherry and vanilla for some reason it reminds me of coke flavoured sweets which I like! The texture feels a little grainy in the pot but once its on the lips its extremely smooth and silky and the packaging is particularly sweet. I'm already a fan!

Burts Bees Naturally nourishing milk and honey body lotion - I know a lot of people may have tried this already but I'm particularly pleased - I haven't tried anything from Burts Bees and have been meaning to pick some of their products up.

All in all a great box for me, I think that I will be using all of the products and it feels like a well rounded selection - I will definitely be staying on for another month with Glossy Box ...I hope the next one will be as good.

Blog of Beauty Tag

I recieved this tag from by Susan from suzeebee87.blogspot.co.uk  she has a lovely blog I recommend that you have a look :)

Rules

1) You must answer all 5 questions

2) You must tag 6 other beauty blogger's

3) You must link the blogger who tagged you in your post

The 5 questions
1) What is your favourite part about blogging?
The sense of community everyone is so encouraging and friendly, it makes blogging a lot of fun :)

2) Is there something you dislike about blogging?
When I run out of motivation or if I've had a really hard week, it can sometimes feel like hard work. Luckily this usually doesn't last long, and is usually overcome by point no.1!

3) What are your favourite types of posts to read?
I really enjoy 'products I dislike' posts. Sometimes I think they can be more informative than good reviews. Plus generally they are quite amusing.

4) What's your favourite post from your own blog?
Umm...so far probably my post about visiting Bath Spa - I enjoyed going so much it was really fun to write about.

5) Which beauty product do you want to purchase due to reading another persons blog?
The Estee Lauder BB cream - its expensive but its been raved about and looks great.

I feel like I've been quite brief :) but I tag...

Hope you enjoy :)

Clinique Almost Lipstick

I am a lover of lip stain, tinted lip balms and generally anything that’s lighter than a full blown lipstick …I find lipsticks a bit daunting so I’m working my way up to those slowly, when I saw Cliniques Almost lipstick on my last shopping trip out I was quite excited by the idea of it.

The name Almost lipstick sounds perfect for me. The shade that I purchased is called Shy Honey and in the ‘tube’ is a lovely bright pink. First of all I really love the packaging I think it looks really sleek and sophisticated, so good for the handbag.

The formulation feels really nice on my lips, very soft and moisturising with a glossy but not sticky finish.

It’s a very very sheer product the colour payoff is low, much more of a tint than a full colour but it does give a (I hate this phrase but) my lips but better effect. I would like to point out that it is marketed as a sheer tinted product and so isn’t meant to be particularly pigmented, but oh my goodness is this sheer, I couldn’t get a good photo of a swatch on my hand because it didn’t show up enough.

At £16 I think it’s pretty expensive for a lip tint, and although I like the formulation and feel of the product it is just too sheer to be worth it. If I do purchase again (which I may) it will definitely be in a different probably darker shade as these seem to have a much better colour payoff  - lesson for me to always swatch colours before purchasing …no matter how pretty they look.

Has anyone tried any of the Almost lipsticks? Or if you know of any other similar products I would like let me know

Loving...

Original Source Shea Butter and Honey Hand Wash

I picked this up at the supermarket yesterday during my lovely and very exciting weekly shop and have completely fallen in love with it. I have used Original Source products before and have to say I am a big fan - one of my favourites being the Lime shower gel ...which is amazingly refreshing in the morning, however I have never tried their hand washes and have definitely not tried this particular 'flavour' before.
Its gorgeous! ... I have found my self washing my hands for no particular reason which is pretty strange but it really does smell delightful. I'm a massive fan of coconut and vanilla scents and this is very similar to those, its sweet and almost chocolaty. Obviously its a hand wash so it doesn't do anything AMAZING but it cleans my hands well without drying them out too much and as stated above smells divine!

If you think this sounds good and live anywhere near an Asda ...pop in as all original source products are on offer atm at £1.

Birthday Haul

It was my birthday on Friday and I had a wonderful day. It was quite relaxed as I had a bit of a cold and didn't want to do anything to strenuous. We ended up going out to lunch and then taking a trip to the cinema. I had great fun and we even ended up getting our lunch for free as one of the waitresses accidentally dropped a plate on my boyfriend... don't worry he is undamaged :) (the manager couldn't have been more apologetic lol)

But without further ado here is my Birthday haul:

Rituals Touch of Heaven, organic sweet Orange and Cedar Ultra whipped body cream (quite a mouthful) I have given Ritual products as presents before but I've never actually owned any myself so I was very happy when I opened this up - its a wonderful smelling product with the orange as a high note with the musky cedar underneath.

Flowerbomb! I'm so excited about this, I have been lusting after this perfume for ages but really could not justify the price tag...que massive thank you to my mum :)
This beauty is my brand new kindle case I fell in love with this as soon as I saw it, it was actually purchased at the medieval fair that I went to over Easter but given to me as a birthday present, I was really surprised to see kindle cases at a medieval fair but could not put it down once I had picked it up. Its real leather that has been printed and stencilled and one of a kind...cant stop stroking it.
Benefit mini 'fake it' kit - this is such a cute set, its the perfect size to take away on weekends or if I'm staying overnight anywhere, and need to look alive in the morning!

These are adorable and such a wonderful idea. They are little decorated biscuits from a site called Biscuiteers, Its a perfect gift that's just a little bit different from the norm. I've received biscuits from Biscuiteers before and they are always amazing. (Their website is www.biscuiteers.com)

Featured above is also a tree identification book, I used to be able to name a lot of trees and just lost the knowledge over time - now I can take this with me and finally a lovely bottle of cider growing up in Somerset kind of makes cider mandatory and I love the stuff (this bottle is from Devon but I like it just the same!).

I will admit that I was thoroughly spoilt. I hope you enjoyed reading, let me know your birthday wish lists :)

Latest in beauty

Happy Birthday to me! Just quick post before I go back to my Birthday Business!

I was introduced to this site through fellow bloggers and I'm sure many of you will have heard of it before so I will try to keep it to a quick overview.

Latest in beauty is a website where you can buy samples of beauty products. Their slogan is 'try before you buy'.

They offer a range of services including a little beauty box where for £1.50 you choose 3 samples from a selection which are then posted to you in a lovely little red box. I think this is an effective, cheap way of trying out new products -  the two downsides are that most of the samples do come in sachets, which can be messy and you can only order it once a month.

They also do a luxury sample area where you can (again) choose from a range of luxury samples – price dependent on what you go for and throughout the year they also put together a range of themed boxes,  I know it all sounds very similar to the large range of beauty boxes that are available but what I really like about this site is that you can choose what you receive and there is no subscription.

For this months little beauty box the three samples I decided to choose were …

  • Ginvera - Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream
  • Sasy n Savy - Rose Lavender Hand n Nail Repair Creme
  • Floris - Sirena EDP Perfume

  • If you would like to have a look at the website click here.

    Easter Travels

    Happy Easter everyone.
I hope your all enjoying your Easter bank holiday and Easter eggs!

This is just a quick(ish) post, I thought I would just do a quick what's in my make-up bag. I love reading this kind of posts when other people do them so thought i would have a go myself.

I'm also doing this post because I've travelled back to Somerset to visit family for Easter and so had the usual dilemma of what make-up do I take with me. I wanted to keep it relatively light due to the travelling but this is what I settled on ...my travelling make-up:

I thought I kept it relatively light but this picture makes it look like a lot...
I picked up the make up bag at boots I was looking for something bright and loved the colours.

So lip stuff ...I'm not a lipstick person but I do have a lot of lip stain/gloss/butter anything but lipstick really...

    • Elf Lip Stain - Birthday Suit
    • Avon Care Sheer Lip Gloss
    • Revlon Lip Butter - Sweet Tart (090)
    • Clinique Almost Lipstick - Shy Honey (39)

     Face...
    • Myface My cover concealer
    • Benefit Boi-ing concealer - in 01
    • Estee Lauder - Day wear BB 01 Light Tester (I really like this and will probably have to buy the full sized one soon)
    • Myface Mymix Foundation - Fair (02) I have done a post about this before see here!
    • Clinique Redness Solutions Daily protective base.
    • Benefit the POREfessional ...(I like this product but i'm not sure why I brought 2 face primers with me - it may have fallen in the make-up bag)

    •   Benefit Hervana blusher - its gorgeous :)

    Eye make-up
    • Maybelline Expression Kajal - Brown (38)
    • Body shop Eye definers - Brilliant Blue (10) & French Navy (06)
    • A teeny Tiny Rimmel Soft Kohl - Black (06) (This is all a maybe as i've had it for ever and love it so all the writing has rubbed off.)
    • Rimmel Glam eyes Quad - Smokey Brun (002)
    • Maybelline Volum' Express One-by-One Waterproof mascara.
I also had a selection of brushes and scissors etc. I was quite lucky as
before I came down I had already cleared out all the the usual 'junk'
that was in my make-up bag so this looks quite tidy :)

Hope you enjoyed reading - let me know what you guys 'must have' in your
own make up bags and also let me know if you think I'm missing anything!

    Elf nourishing cuticle pen

I bought the nourishing cuticle pen on a whim the last time I placed an order with ELF, and then promptly forgot about it for a while…

I rediscovered it in my handbag at work a couple of weeks ago ...ever since then I’ve been using it daily, whenever I get a 5 min brain freeze etc I pick it up (it lives in my pen pot lol) and apply it to my cuticles. It’s designed like a felt tip pen so I run it all over the area around my nails. The product is clear, sinks in quickly (so no waiting around) and it has no discernible scent.

Due to the line of work I’m in I wash my hands a lot(!) which means they get quite dry, I do use hand cream but my cuticles tend to be a bit neglected, the ELF website states that the key ingredients Avocado and Almond Oils help to condition nails and cuticles for improved appearance, and I’m inclined to agree  since using the cuticle pen I have noticed a marked difference - my cuticles looks so much happier and healthier.

The ELF nourishing cuticle pen is something that I’ve been pleasantly surprised with especially since it was only £1.50!

    Can you spot it? :)
