Myface MyMix Foundation

For the last week I've been trying out a new foundation, which as you can probably guess is the Myface Cosmetics MyMix foundation. I've been waiting patiently to try this but had decided to be good and finish the foundation I was already using before I purchased.

First of all it arrived all wrapped up in bright pink tissue paper which was lovely because who doesn't like receiving pretty packages. The foundation packaging is a little less fun but perfectly serviceable and is quite sleek, I also like the slim design as it fits very well in my make-up bag.
Obviously I chose this foundation in fair no.2, one of the main pluses of the Myface cosmetics foundations is the colour selection, they seem to have very sensible categories which I think makes it easier to colour match the product to your skin. There are three shades fair, medium and dark with three subcategories in each shade.

I did get a little over excited when trying to get the product out of the tube as you can see on the photo, and one of the downsides of the packaging is that it does tend to over dispense. The consistency of the foundation is thin and liquidy but without being watery in any way and once it was on my skin this foundation was really nice. It sits on the skin well, doesn't highlight any dry patches and helped tone down my redness (it didn't completely cover it but did a good job). It feels light and left me with a lovely dewy finish.
The best bit by far is that its also affordable, on the Myface cosmetics website the foundation is £12.99 and you get a good 35ml of product.

If any of you guys have tried this or anything else from Myface cosmetics let me know I would love to hear what you think. :)

(At the moment Myface cosmetic website has 25% off any purchase until the 29th of Feb www.myfacecosmetics.co.uk/home)

P.S. Some people may have noticed that I also bought the concealer, I haven't mentioned it only because I haven't tried it yet I will update once its in use.

Irrational Fears

On Thursday I took advantage of late night shopping at my local shopping centre and also managed to face one of my more unfounded  fears -  the beauty counter!
I know its a bit odd however, I have always been terrified of them.

I have heard many horror stories about hard selling or people sitting in the beauty chairs and coming away with layers of make up on that they don't like. My massive lack of knowledge about beauty products also makes me nervous as I don't want to sound like an idiot (and I've always had the feeling that the SA's are secretly judging everyone who comes anywhere near their counters!)So usually I keep my head down and admire all the products from afar ..or on the Internet.

However, on Thursday I was wandering past the Benefit counter and was drawn in by the cute packaging, the SA came over to help and after having a brief conversation about the products (with my usual I'm just browsing defence) I may have accidentally let slip that I had never worn or really tried blusher...this was when I was gently guided into the make-up chair. Needless to say I almost panicked but managed to control it and let myself be seated ...

The SA did a quick very light look including:
'That gal' facial primer.
Foundation (unfortunately I don't remember which one)
'Hervana' blusher.

She showed me how she was applying each product, let me see how the individual products looked before and after applying and was generally really helpful. I shouldn't have been so worried!

'That gal' primer was lovely gave my skin a wonderful glowy/dewy look and smelt delicious (like cranberries), she also said that to make it last longer I could mix it with my usual moisturiser and it would still have the same effect.
I wasn't a massive fan of the foundation but this was mainly because it was a powder foundation, at the time the colour match was good and it looked nice but later on it started to look a bit cakey (because I have dry skin).
The Hervana blusher was beautiful! It look really natural and just added a gorgeous luminosity to my skin.

The sales assistant was not pushy at all and in fact I enjoyed the whole experience so much that I've actually booked a free make-up lesson with Benefit (which takes place at the beauty counter) where the SA will go a little more in depth in how to apply the products and which products are best for me (including eyes) - I know the aim of this is to make me buy Benefit make up but I felt like it would be a good experience where I may learn a few tricks and at least if I do buy some products I will at least know how to use them properly.

So to sum up ... I'm glad I faced my fear, I had a good experience - it hasn't alleviated all my worries as I do know people that have terrible times at beauty counters but I will definitely be more prepared to approach them and the SA's in the future.

P.S. I was so taken by the blush that after never buying a blush before I then went ahead and spent £23.50 on Hervana.

My camera was being awkward so here's one I found on Google!
 Packaging is so adorable!

I find its easy to apply (coming from someone who has no experience with blushes) has a nice finish and adds a nice lift to my complexion.

Pevonia

So I forgot to mention that after going to the Spa I decided that my skin felt sooo lovely that I had to buy some of the products that were used during my facial.
The products are from the sensitive skin range by Pervonia Botanica.
Pervonia Botanica are a brand that centres on natural ingredients, ego friendly packaging and being free from 'harmful' ingredients.

I was recommended the sensitive skin range because I have a little bit of redness on my skin and I tend to be a little dry on my face. Before trying the products from Pervonia I had several dry patches on my face that every evening and morning I would have to slather with moisturiser. After using the Pervonia  range these areas have been significantly reduced and are a lot less red. Hopefully with continued use they will disappear completely!

I only purchased a taster set as I wanted to see if I really liked it before buying the full sized products as they are quite pricey. This set was £38, the shop assistant stated that it would last me about a month and I can say that's probably true as you need a very small amount of the products to get good results.
The set includes:
 Dry Skin Cleanser
Dry Skin Lotion
Dry Skin Cream
and a cute little bag to keep it all in!

The last thing I want to mention is that I was given by the shop assistant a list of 'ingredients to avoid' in beauty products, probably ...well definitely I was given it to show how good the Pervonia range is because it doesn't contain any of the ingredients to avoid, however for me it really just highlighted how little that I look at the ingredients list of any beauty products that I use - something that will now change.

Thanks for reading, if any of you have tried any Pervonia products let me know.

Treats

Last Friday I was treated to a spa day at Thermae bath spa. This was an amazing treat from my lovely mum.

The spa describes its self as:
'Thermae Bath Spa is a remarkable day spa, combining the 'old and new'. The historic spa buildings, the Hot and Cross Baths blend with the contemporary design of the New Royal Bath. Together, they offer bathing in the warm, mineral-rich waters and a range of spa treatments designed to ease the body and soothe the mind.'

The spa package included 2 treatments, a 4hr spa session (use of the facilities) and a 2 course lunch.
The two treatments were: The 'Kraxen stove' and a 'Thermae facial'.

Our day went as follows:
Roof top pool -So I think the idea of the roof top pool is to be gently relaxed with the bubble jets and take in the lovely views of Bath. On Friday the temperature outside was at a soaring 1C, I think to be honest this made it much more fun - dashing to and from the pool trying not to freeze and the vast steam clouds emanating from the pool made it feel very decadent :)

Kraxen Stove -This was extremely odd but very relaxing. It was a 16 minute treatment which involved sitting in a 'Alpen hay chamber' surrounded by herbs and German hay and then loosely wrapped in a plastic sheet (with your head sitting out of the top!) your shoulders and neck are then gently steamed. It felt like I was slowly melting ...in a good way...

Aromatherapy steam rooms - I'm not a massive fan of steam rooms however these were intriguing, the room was split into pods each of which had a different scent, it was a lot of fun wandering from each one trying out the scents -I would highly recommend the eucalyptus.

(Roof top pool ...again)

Facials - This 50 minute treatment included cleansing, lotion, exfoliation, care cream and finally a mask. As part of the facial my head shoulders and neck were also massaged. At the time it seemed like a lot of products but my skin felt very soft and nourished. At one point I was very nearly asleep and the time flew by.  Afterwards the therapist went through the products she had used and what would be good for me to buy, definitely on commission, but she was very friendly and helpful.
After both of the treatments I was led to a relaxation room with a selection of drinks, comfortable chairs and nice warm blankets, it was nice not to go right back into the Spa facilities and have time to recover and wake up.

(Finished with surprise surprise roof top pool!)

All in all I can't rave about this place enough the facilities felt extremely luxurious, the staff were friendly and the treatments (that I tried) were very relaxing  - I was greatly pampered all day.

If you would like to have a look at other treatments or read 'proper!' descriptions of the treatments I went for have a look at their website: http://www.thermaebathspa.com/

If you have ever been to Thermae Bath Spa or know of any other good spa's let me know :)
